About the Position

The Student Health Center's Medical Office Receptionist performs clerical and patient service tasks at the front desk of University Health Services and provides customer service for a diverse population of university age patients in a university setting.

The WA state classification for this position is: Patient Services Representative

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and two years of general office experience or one year of office or customer service experience in a health care setting
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in dynamic work environment
  • Ability to work with diverse populations
  • Ability to handle confidential information

Preferred Qualifications

  • Work experience in an Urgent Care, Family Practice, or Higher Education Clinic
  • Current Certified Medical Assistant
  • Experience using an electronic medical record
  • Experience using Microsoft Teams for phone calls, meetings & messages

SalarySalary Range 38 (https://ofm.wa.gov/sites/default/files/public/shr/CompensationAndJobClasses/Salary%20Schedules/2020July1GWA/rep/GS2020Jul1_Represented-.pdf) | new hires typically start at $17.79 per hour ($17.79 - $23.06/hour)

Bargaining Unit

This position is covered by a Washington Federation of State Employees bargaining union. New employees are eligible for membership under the current collective bargaining agreement at 350 hours of employment.

With the new law regarding temporary employees; you are only able to work one 1050 temporary appointment for Western.
