rewarding work schedule. As a Registered Dental Hygienist you will
provide direct dental hygiene clinical treatment and education in oral
health maintenance and prevention to dental clinic patients or the
community. Develop and implement an individual preventive oral health
program for clinic patients and other interested individuals and
organizations. Provide clinical dental hygiene services as listed below.
Clinical hygienists will achieve improved oral health for patients as a
vital component to the oral health team. They also provide much needed
education and prevention services to a culturally diverse population
that often has limited prior exposure to modern dental procedures.
Creates a work culture of respect, trust and understanding for the
highly diverse populations the Health Department serves in the office
and in the community. As the Registered Dental Hygienist, other duties
will include: Provide clinical dental hygiene services, including
prophylaxes, scaling, root planing, fluoride application, complete
periodontal charting and periodontal treatment; expose and mount dental
radiographs; place dental sealants; take blood pressure, review and sign
paper medical history of patients and proper chart documentation.
Educate patients on preventive dental actions that improve dental and
overall health of patient, to include practical and physical
demonstration of best brushing and cleaning methods, new techniques or
products that help for better cleaning and maintenance of teeth and
mouth health, and provide written materials as an avenue to reinforce
best oral health techniques. Demonstrate and teach oral hygiene methods
and develop individual prevention plan for each client that considers
the patient's physical, mental and emotional skills and/or limitations.
Administer topical and local anesthesia. Prescribes fluoride and
antimicrobial solutions. Provide triage for emergent situations to
improve patient flow and respond to emergency situations of patients in
clinic or presenting for services. Oversee and control strict asepsis
controls to prevent transmission of communicable diseases; maintain
strict control over the dispensing and use of toxic materials. Maintains
chain of infection control during care and charting and takes
responsibility for infection control in the clinic. Maintains and
follows all safety standards and protocols. Work in central
sterilization, including processing instruments, and sterilizing
instruments for all providers. There are 3 positions available at these
