Title	Dental hygienist
Job Description	Preventive Care & Cleaning: Performing oral prophylaxis (routine cleaning) to remove plaque, calculus (tartar), and stains from the tooth surfaces, both above and below the gum line. Assessment & Screening: Conducting periodontal assessments (measuring gum pockets), screening for oral cancer, and reviewing a patient’s health history. Diagnostic Tools: Taking, developing, and interpreting dental X-rays (radiographs) to assist the dentist in identifying decay or infection. Preventive Treatments: Applying fluoride treatments to strengthen enamel and to protect teeth from decay Periodontal Therapy: Performing root planing and scaling to treat periodontal disease (gum disease). Patient Education: Instructing patients on proper brushing and flossing techniques, as well as providing nutritional advice for better oral health. Documentation: Updating patient records, tracking treatment progress, and recording tooth charting for the dentist.
