Dental Hygienist

Core Responsibilities
Preventive Care and Cleaning: Dental hygienists remove plaque and tartar from teeth, polish teeth, and perform tooth scaling and root planing

Patient Assessment and Screening: Hygienists examine patients for signs of oral diseases such as gingivitis, cavities, or oral cancer, and report findings

Diagnostic Support: They take dental X-rays to provide dentists with detailed views of teeth, roots, supporting bone, and surrounding structures.

Patient Education: Dental hygienists educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing, diet, and the use of oral care devices. They provide guidance on maintaining long-term oral health and preventing disease.

Clinical Assistance: Hygienists assist dentists during procedures, sterilize and organize dental instruments, and maintain a safe and clean clinical environment. They may use hand, power, ultrasonic tools, or air-polishing devices to perform treatments.
