（Part-time） Dental hygienist job at custom dental care

Key Responsibilities:

1. Patient Care:

Perform professional teeth cleaning, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque, tartar, and stains.

Examine patients' gums and teeth for signs of disease, infection, and abnormalities.

Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) to detect oral health issues.

Apply fluoride treatments and sealants to protect teeth from cavities.

Assist patients in understanding their oral health and provide personalized care recommendations.

Administer local anesthetics, as needed and prescribed by the dentist.

2. Education and Preventative Care:

Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, such as brushing, flossing, and diet-related advice for maintaining healthy teeth and gums.

Provide instructions on how to prevent dental issues like cavities and gum disease.

Advise patients on the importance of regular dental check-ups and preventive treatments.

3. Clinical Responsibilities:

Assist the dentist with clinical procedures, including preparing dental instruments and materials.

Document patient dental health histories and update their treatment records accurately.

Record information about patients' oral health status, including charting and measuring gum health.

Provide treatment recommendations, including referrals to a dentist or specialist, as appropriate.

4. Sterilization and Infection Control:

Follow strict infection control procedures to sterilize equipment and prevent cross-contamination.

Ensure that all dental tools and instruments are properly cleaned, disinfected, and stored.

Comply with health and safety regulations to maintain a clean and sterile environment.

5. Administrative Support:

Assist with scheduling appointments and maintaining patient files.

Manage inventory, ensuring the clinic has sufficient supplies of dental hygiene products.

Help with billing and insurance paperwork related to treatment and procedures.
