（Full-time） Surgical Dental Assistant job at Denton Periodontics

Examples of duties include:

Patient care: Welcome patients, review medical histories, and help them get seated and comfortable in the operatory.

Take and record vital signs, confirm allergies/medications, and alert the doctor to any concerns.
​

Provide pre-op and post-op instructions and help manage patient anxiety throughout visits.
​

Clinical and surgical assisting:
Set up the operatory for surgery, including preparing trays, instruments, materials, and sterile fields.
​

Assist chairside during surgical procedures (retracting tissue, suctioning, passing instruments, managing irrigation, etc.).


Radiography and records
Take and process dental X‑rays, CBCTs, and photos.
​

Prepare and update patient charts, treatment notes, and surgical documentation in the dental record system.
​

Assist in treatment planning workflows, including organizing records, scans, and lab information.
​

Sterilization and infection control
Clean and sterilize instruments, disinfect rooms, and maintain aseptic technique per OSHA/infection control protocols.
​

Turn over operatories efficiently between patients, restocking and maintaining a clean, safe environment.
​

Ensure proper handling and storage of biohazard materials and adherence to PPE and universal precautions.
​

Office support and inventory
Monitor and restock surgical supplies, implants, disposables, and medications as directed.
​

Help coordinate scheduling, follow-up appointments, and communication with the front office as needed.
​

Participate in team huddles, training, and quality improvement to keep the surgical schedule running smoothly.
​

Holiday pay, 401k and vacation time after one year and these increase with more years of service

We see patients Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, about 8-4 (times can vary). The dental assistant can come in on Wednesday or Friday to catch up on ordering supplies, cleaning, helping with marketing or up front. We do not take an hour lunch, therefore, you are getting paid through the time that you are in the office.
