（Part-time） Orthodontic Assistant job at Propper Smiles Orthodontics

Assist the orthodontist during patient examinations and procedures, maintaining a smooth workflow and anticipating clinical needs (four‑handed dentistry).
Prepare, set up, and maintain treatment rooms, including sterilization and instrument/equipment maintenance in compliance with infection control protocols.
Take and process dental radiographs and digital images as required; assist with 3D scanners and related imaging workflows.
Monitor patient comfort and vital signs as needed; assist in managing anxious or pediatric patients to create a calm, positive experience.
Educate patients and caregivers on oral hygiene, appliance care, and post-treatment instructions.
Maintain accurate, timely patient records and documentation in the practice management system in accordance with HIPAA and clinic policies.
Assist with appointment flow, patient check-in/check-out tasks, and coordination with front-office staff to optimize patient experience.
Participate in team meetings, continuing education, and staying current with orthodontic techniques and technologies.

Expected hours: 24 per week Schedule: Monday–Wednesday 7:30 AM–4:30 PM; Thursday–Sunday closed

Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) — required.
Prior experience assisting chairside in an orthodontic, pediatric, or general dental setting is strongly preferred but not required.
Proficiency or familiarity with four‑handed dentistry and aseptic technique.
Working knowledge of dental/orthodontic terminology, anatomy, infection control standards, and HIPAA confidentiality requirements.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with patients of all ages, especially children and families.
Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to commute to Gig Harbor, WA and work the posted schedule (Mon–Wed 7:30 AM–4:30 PM).
Authorization to work in the United States.

Previous orthodontic or pediatric dentistry experience.
Experience with digital imaging and 3D intraoral scanners.
Experience with medical/dental coding and records management.
Experience in four‑handed dentistry and assisting with a full range of orthodontic appliances and procedures.
Friendly, patient-focused demeanor and experience working with children and families.
